

Karina Shikanyan
Karina Shikanyan is a soloist at Opera and Ballet Theatre of Armenia. She studied at Yerevan State Choreographical college and was given many opportunities to shine while still in training. In 2013, she earned the Gold Medal (First Place) in the classical ballet category of the all-Armenian "Navasardyan" competition. Later, in 2015, Karina was entrusted with the lead role of Marie in The Nutcracker, which she later performed on tour in Czech Republic. For her graduation performance, Karina performed the role of Kitri from Don Quixote. This became her first principal role after beginning her work at the Armenian National Ballet. In 2018, she travelled to Moscow, Russia with the company to present Gayane on the legendary stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. A year later, Karina was invited to the USA (San Diego) to perform in The Nutcracker as a guest artist. During her time performing in the USA, she also led two weeks of classical ballet masterclasses for local students. Additionally, Karina studied "Dance Direction" at the Yerevan Institute of Theatre and Cinematography.
